Public Affairs
Changes
to the Website, 9 March 2010
The Texas
Wing Website, with your input, will
populate its News Online section with
articles from across the wing. When you
do something interesting, participate in
a mission or exercise, work on a
community service project, or help in a
civic function either by presenting the
colors, working the parking lot or just
helping out, these are some of the many
opportunities you'll have to write an
article.
Project
officers would be best advised to plan
the news coverage at the same time that
they plan all the rest. It isn't at all
hard. Even if the unit has no PAO,
someone can take digital photos, and the
same person or someone else
–
or more than one
–
can write the article. Each selected
article will be published online, on its
own individual page, and readers will
find it easy to e-mail it to anyone.
The Wing
Commander has already announced that
each senior member in Texas Wing who
gets 6 articles published on the Texas
Wing News Online will earn a CAP
Achievement Award. A cadet will earn the
same reward after getting 4 articles
published.
We'll
continue working to make this website
truly useful to all Texas Wing members.
And, of
course, your comments are always
welcome.

Our Mission
The Public Affairs officer is
the custodian of the good name and image of
the Civil Air Patrol, and is charged with
presenting the Civil Air Patrol to the
public under its most favorable light.
Public Affairs is one of the most important functions within Civil Air Patrol:
"No area of CAP activity is more vital to the success of the organization than the public
affairs function." -- Old Guide to Civil Air Patrol Public Affairs, Volume I
We follow the team approach: "One person volunteering his time cannot possibly accomplish
all the public relations tasks necessary to achieve the goals of CAP. It can only be done
with a team approach. Your team may include the following: Public Affairs Officer, Deputy
Public Affairs Officer, Media Relations Officer, Photographer/Videographer, and Newsletter Editor.
