Public Affairs - How to Earn a CAP Achievement Award
How it works ~
On April 2, 2010, Col. Joe R. Smith, at that time the Texas Wing commander, published an announcement concerning this website's new Texas Wing News Online section. It is posted here.
After its publication, Col. Smith decided to make it a permanent reward for contributors to the Texas Wing News Online section. The rules are very simple.
Any Texas Wing cadet who gets four articles published on Texas Wing News Online will earn a CAP Achievement Award (CAA). After the first award, for every four additional articles, that cadet will earn another CAA (adding a propeller to the ribbon).
Any Texas Wing senior member who gets six articles published on Texas Wing News Online will earn a CAAAward. After the first award, for every six additional articles, that senior member will earn another CAA (adding a propeller to the ribbon).
If an article is bylined by more than one Texas Wing member, all authors will accrue credit towards recognition as stated above (1/4 CAA for a cadet, 1/6 CAA for a senior member).
Update ~
Upon assuming command of Texas Wing, Col. Brooks Cima confirmed that she will support the same award policy.
At last count, as a result of this policy, 57 Texas Wing Members have earned one or more CAAs, or are in the process of earning one.
