Former Texas Wing member and Squadron Commander killed in helicopter crash

Dan Katen, former Texas Wing member and Commander of Delta Composite Squadron in Spring, Texas, perished in a tragic helicopter accident last week in north Texas.  Our sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Dan was honorably discharged from the Army in 1981 after 8 years of service. He was a Chief Warrant Officer and a rotary wing aviator. His commendations include a Parachute Badge, Expert (rifle), Aircraft Crewman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and Army Service Medal. He was also Commander of the Delta Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol unit in Tomball, Texas for five years. He was currently employed by Med Trans Corporation in Lewisville, Texas, as an Operations Control Specialist.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 18th, 2016 at 11093 Darby Loop, Conroe, TX 77385. There will be a visitation from 4pm-5pm and a memorial service from 5pm-6pm.
