Texas Wing Conference & National Conference
As many of you know, Texas Wing will be hosting the 2017 National Conference in San Antonio, TX this coming August. All members are encouraged to attend National Conference to gain knowledge through exceptional training, support our TXWG members that will be receiving National awards, and observe the National Commander Change of Command. Thus, Texas Wing will not be having an independent conference in 2017. We will be hosting an Awards Luncheon to celebrate our amazing members during the National Conference.National ConferenceThe 2017 Summer Civil Air Patrol Conference is open for registration! Texas Wing Awards Luncheon
TXWG Awards Luncheon will be held on Saturday 2 Sept 17 at the Marriott Rivercenter. The luncheon will be complimentary for all registered TXWG CAP members. Guest tickets will be available for purchase prior to the event. Exact details on pricing and menu are still pending at this time and will be released once confirmed.

PAO Academy VIII in San Antonio 30-31 August and the FEMA G290 course 28-29 August.

The Academy features two days of training custom designed to fit your professional development needs.
Valuable perspectives on needs and opportunities as well as planning and execution of a successful PA program will be provided by a CAP Wing Commander (who once served as a wing PAO), a representative of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Director of Crisis Communications with a major national corporation and a 1st Air Force PAO.  The emphasis on social media will include seminars on effective use of platforms. Participants will set up social media accounts and learn when to engage, respond, reply and share. Takeaways will include the ability to take and post GoPro and cell phone photos and videos, how to join the national conversation on CAP.news, and insight on how to market to younger audiences.  Plus, CAP PIOs will share their high-profile mission success stories and a seasoned PAO will show you how to build engagement by building relationships. Cost $45

G290 is FEMA’s Basic Public Information Officer course.  The value of communications before, during and after an incident will be explored.  G290 is a required course for the Senior Level rating in CAPP 201. Cost $40
